The IOU Guinea-Bissau has signed a Memorandum of Agreement with Azures, a local Islamic Association. Under this agreement, the IOU IEC team will teach their teachers and members English while IOU IEC will be granted access to their classes and other facilities in return.
Furthermore, the IOU Guinea-Bissau team had an audience with the new Minister of Education, Mrs. Gomez, who was extremely impressed with the IEC program.She has pledged to provide students of two of the biggest high schools in Bissau, Samora Michel and Kwame Nkrummah, for the pilot program. Over a thousand students attend each high school. Further details pertaining logistics and number of students are to be determined. The new Minister has expressed her desire to begin immediately with the training of graduating students who do not have sufficient university level English comprehension and writing skills necessary for the university thesis.
Additionally, the IOU Guinea-Bissau team is working tirelessly on gaining a legal status in the country and has been able to secure three fully furnished classes for the IOU IEC program in Tchico Te.
